King Simeon and Queen Margarita visited Assisi's Town Hall and were received by the mayor Stefania Proietti. Here he signed the register of honor and looked out the window where his mother, Queen Giovanna together with King Boris III of Bulgaria greeted the citizen on the wedding day on April 25, 1930 .
The mayor Stefania Proietti paid tribute to king Simeon II of an olive branch covered in pure silver that represents the message of peace spread around the world from Assisi and a pin depicting the emblem of the city. In the office of the mayor Simeon II was able to review the picture that the Senate of the Kingdom of Italy gave to his parents on their wedding day and he together with his sister, Princess Maria Luisa, decided to give the City of Assisi on the first anniversary of the disappearance of the Queen. The painting, by Giovanni Di Paolo dating back to 1400, represents San Francesco receiving the stigmata.
